Week of November 4-8

Happy Friday 5DL Families!

Even though November has a lot of interrupted days, the students have truly worked hard in all facets of their day!  Check out some of their learning…

Math

-We finished +/- Decimals
-Kids worked in partners on a real life challenge to buy the most Halloween Candy with $100
-We pre-assessed our next unit- Multiplying whole numbers and  decimals
-I would love kids to master all math facts through this unit (I promise it will help them throughout their years in math)

Literacy

-Explode a Moments are complete and we will do a small share out in class
-Book Clubs are continuing
-Students are comparing their two books they’ve read so far
-Everyone should be reading nightly, whether for book club or pleasure

Wolfpacks and Veteran’s Day

5DL students made cards for the Veteran’s Day assembly on Friday!
Emery’s grandfather was our Master of Ceremonies and he did a fantastic job sharing stories of courage!

Guidance Lessons with Mrs. Eitler
-Mrs. Eitler came in to do a lesson on empathy and guessing how people may feel.  The students worked in pairs to get to know one another then guess how their partner might feel in a situation.

Schedule for November :)

-11/11 Veteran’s Day
-11/14 Early Release for Conferences (Dismissal at 11:50)
-11/27-11/29 Thanksgiving Break (Gobble Gobble!)

Have a great, long weekend!

Social Studies

We have been working hard on projects of our choosing to showcase our learning about early exploration!  Check out what the students have done in collaborative groups. We have game shows, TV shows, Kahoots, live presentations, poster board presentations as well as a puppet show.
