Week 4

Happy Friday,

Thank you for visiting at Open House this week.  The students were excited to act as ambassadors to the classrooms.  For me, it was exciting to watch them brainstorm and then talk about how things work in the classroom.  The learning is truly in their hands (along with guidance from me and other peers).  Education has changed remarkably to help get students ready to be active, thoughtful citizens of our world!

Here's what we did....

Social Studies

  • studied the 5 Themes of Geography
  • Looked at NH through the 5 Themes
  • Worked with a partner on a 5 Themes of Stratham activity
Literacy
  • Created our Digital Writer's Notebook
  • Created a map of our hearts
  • Generated ideas of firsts, last and experiences that impacted our lives

Math

  • Began our Math Manu/Self Guided approach to math
  • First day we looked at our PRACTICE options
  • Next we looked at EdPuzzle
  • Then we learned how to sign up for which teacher lesson
  • Finally we did the whole process of math and it was BEAUTIFUL!
We ended our day with a House meeting!  We got together first to go over the amount of points each house has earned.  We watched an awesome house song and dance that was created by students and then brainstormed in houses what songs, words and moves we could use for our chants!  Ask your child all about it!

Important Dates

Thursday is an Early Release
Dismissal at 12:50

Conference Sign Ups will come home in the next few weeks.... They are in late October/Early November.

Friday's SHP Team Building Day

Make sure to ask your child about the activities they did with their group as well as what they learned about team building!  Also, ask what they did as a whole 5th grade.  This day is integral to teaching students real world life skills that will forever help!

Enjoy some pictures from our week!

Love independent, resourceful students! Many figured out the population of Stratham online was not current so wanted to call Town Hall to get a more recent number!

Here are some pictures from Team Building!  Please ask your child what they did with their group and how they worked together.  I was impressed!!!

Enjoy your kiddos this weekend!
