Hi everyone,
Here are some nuts and bolts of things happening this week and in the near future!
Report cards went home today due to my absence tomorrow. Please wait unit Monday to return the envelope. I spoke to students that if they have any questions about grades they earned, to please come and talk to me about it on their own. I'll be here Monday for anyone. It's integral for students at this point in their academic career to be advocating for themselves! Thanks!
Valentine Sweetheart breakfast is on 2/14. I've gotten a lot of the money for that. Please send along by Tuesday if you haven't gotten it in already.
Early Release next Wednesday, February 7th. Dismissal at 12:50 pm.
Nonfiction books:
Our nonfiction books are done and ready to order! Students took their research reports and put them into book format using the website Mixbook (like Shutterfly or Snapfish). Mixbook gives the fifth grade a bulk ordering deal and charges us $10 for a color, paperback book. You have the option to purchase this book- feel free to check it out on Mixbook before ordering- students can log in and show you. If you'd like to purchase a book please send in $10 by next Friday, February 9th- cash or checks made out to me. I will put in the order on that day.
In math we are continuing with addition and subtraction of fractions and mixed numbers.
In literacy we started our Argument and Advocacy unit (one of my favorites)!
We finished colonization and will start a new science unit on Monday!
