- We "fishbowled" 5H doing a Mystery Skype. As quiet observers, the class figured out the many jobs of Mystery Skyping and the 20 questions format. We'll be Mystery Skyping soon!
- We've continued volume in math along with some metric conversions and order of operations. Students took a mid unit assessment via a google survey today to check for progress. This will help me plan for differentiated lessons next week.
- Reader's Workshop has really challenged all the students to think deeply about making a claim about their character or setting then backing it up with evidence from the book. They've worked diligently in the partners to share out. Mr. Fosher even visited us as the students worked on this.
- Writer's Workshop has continued with students acting out how to help a partner revise and edit to really get inside the skin of the character. We've also talked about point of view and how our narrative writing uses first person point of view.
- Our Three Worlds Meet Social Studies unit is about early exploration. Through our text set, we have used books, pictures, and videos to help students come up with ideas of what each world was like pre-exploration. 5D and 5H have done a tremendous job making connections, comparing, and sharing what the different worlds were like through the five themes of geography.
- Band has continued every day 6 and Chorus just began on day 4. 5D has a lot of students in each!
Questions to promote school talk...
- What are the jobs of Mystery Skype?
- What is Class Dojo and how does it work?
- What games have you played in math for volume?
- What was the end of The Honest Truth like? *** (Amazing ending that sparked a lot of conversation)
- How's your narrative writing going? How have you made it more exciting?
- What book are you currently reading?
I hope you all have a restful, relaxing weekend! Until Monday....
Shannon
